Testimonials

“I come to Talk Tuesdays (now known as Building Bridges Support Group) because it’s a place I feel safe and can talk about anything. Many of my ‘peers’ understand what I’m going through, and I don’t feel like a burden. If I’m having a dark moment, I head to The Farm Cafe to share, and I realize I can get through the rest of the day with the safety, support and friendship of my peer group.”

—Nancy

“Farm Cafe is a place where everyone is supported, and given an opportunity to grow. The food is local and freshly made, and everyone is given the opportunity to be fed, whether they can afford a meal or not. I feel the Farm Cafe is a very important place, a place where people from all walks of life can come together to work, learn, and break bread together in a safe and supportive environment.

I come to the Farm Cafe because it is a place where I can be myself, I can both learn and teach, I know I can get a good meal even when I’m struggling to afford groceries, and I can get the social time I desperately need for the sake of my mental health.”

— Emily

“At one mentor lounge this year a student came in and read her women’s day poem to our group. In response, one of the senior mentors - Glenda - from our group attending, read a poem she had just written. This is a small example of the sense of belonging and sharing space that is created at the cafe. Youth inspired by the sense of belonging at the cafe sharing a poem in front of strangers and a senior being inspired by the youth to express their own voice... this is good stuff. Thank you Farm Cafe.”
